Annual tuition rates are decided by the AIS-R Board of Trustees in the spring for the following school year. Once these are available, the rates and payment dates will be posted on this page.

Seat Deposit

In order to plan for the following school year, AIS-R collects a non-refundable seat deposit from both new students (who register between February 1 and summer break) and returning students. New students registering during this time period must pay the seat deposit within two school days of receiving their acceptance notification in order to guarantee their seat for the upcoming school year. Returning students who do not pay the seat deposit will not be guaranteed their seat for the following year, will be placed in the Wait Pool, and will be contacted if a seat becomes available. The seat deposit is not an additional fee as this amount will be credited towards the first semester tuition payment of the year. Seat deposit is due in the spring and is approximately 10% of the tuition. Due to extenuating circumstances, for the 2020-21 school year, the seat deposit payment will be due on July 15th.

Tuition Payments

We kindly request for you to proceed with your 2020-21 first semester tuition payment in one of two ways before the July 15, 2020 deadline, as follows:

Payment Plan 1--Full Payment of First Semester Tuition by July 15, 2020: Submit your first semester payment in full. This plan allows you to secure your seat in one payment and begin classes on September 14 (Sept. 1 for IB). If at any time your plans change to return, you are eligible for a refund of your payment, minus the non-refundable seat deposit of 11,000 (plus VAT) until August 15, 2020.

Payment Plan 2--Tuition Payment of Non-Refundable “Seat Deposit” by July 15 and Complete Payment of Semester One Tuition by August 15, 2020: Submit the first semester tuition in two summer payments to secure a seat: (1) nonrefundable seat deposit 11,000 (plus VAT) by July 15, which holds a seat for one month; (2) full-semester one payment (minus seat deposit payment) by August 15 to secure a seat for September 14th (Sept. 1 for IB students). If a second payment is not received by August 15th, the non-refundable “seat deposit” will expire and the re-enrollee will be placed in a ‘seat deposit wait pool’ with no guarantee of re-entry until a seat becomes available for their waitlisted number (waitlisted numbers will be distributed by date/time of the payment received by the school). Due to budget restrictions and staffing allocations, we expect classes to fill with returning and new wait pool students after August 15 and before September 14th. If your plans change to return, you are eligible for a refund of your payment, minus the non-refundable seat deposit of 11,000 (plus VAT) until August 15, 2020.

Tuition Payment Methods

Tuition and fees are payable in Saudi Riyals (SAR) only. During the Covid-related campus closure period, payments may be made by wire transfer (preferred payment method), check, (drop off at the school’s guard house) , or cash (during summer office hours). AIS-R does not accept debit or credit card payments.

Tuition Refunds

Tuition is only refundable when ALL of the following apply:

  1. The parent provided written withdrawal notice to the school prior to the deadline date;
  2. The tuition refund deadline date is met. For 2020: Refunds will only be issued prior to the August 15th deadline date (less seat deposit if applicable).
  3. The student did not attend school at any time during the semester (if applicable); and,
  4. The student has already paid some or all of the tuition due for that semester.

NEW STUDENT FEES


Application Fee

A non-refundable, non-transferable Application Fee is required for each child at every grade level applying for admission to AIS-R to include on-site, remote, and exemption. This fee must be paid upon submission of application documents. This fee includes the cost of the initial application process, testing correspondence, document retrieval, confirmation of application documentation validity, and an appointment for testing (or re-testing) when applicable.

Capital Fee

A non-refundable, one-time Capital Fee of 15,525 SAR (13,500 SAR without VAT) for students in Pre-K through Grade 8, and 23,000 SAR (20,000 SAR without VAT) for students in Grade 9 through Grade 12, is required for each new student entering AIS-R. This payment is due within two school days of receiving the acceptance notification in order to guarantee the seat, regardless of the student’s starting date. This fee is also required for all re-enrolling students. If a re-enrolling student paid the Capital Fee in the previous 36 months, he/she would pay the difference between the previous capital fee (in effect at the time of leaving AIS-R) and the current Capital Fee. If a student has been away from AIS-R for more than 36 months, he/she would pay the entire Capital Fee. This fee is used to continuously meet campus maintenance and technology needs.

Registration Fee

A non-refundable Registration Fee of 14,950 SAR (13,000 SAR without VAT) is required for all newly admitted students. This payment is due within two school days of the acceptance notification to guarantee the seat, regardless of the student’s starting date. This fee is also required for all re-enrolling students when more than 365 days have elapsed since the student’s withdrawal from AIS-R (i.e. when a student has not been enrolled at AIS-R for two or more consecutive semesters). Students who have only been away from AIS-R for one semester will be required to pay 50% (plus 15% VAT) of this fee. This fee is used to cover the costs related to adding and maintaining new students in AIS-R’s systems, such as Skyward, Moodle, Destiny, and our ID cards for students, parents, nannies, and drivers. This fee also covers costs associated with withdrawals, including college matriculation, graduation, transcripts, and college counseling.

POTENTIAL ADDITIONAL FEES AND COSTS

Test Rescheduling Fee

Following the confirmation of a testing appointment, if the applicant neglects to inform the Admissions Office within two working days that they require rescheduling, a test rescheduling fee of 862.50 SAR (750 SAR without VAT) is required and must be paid prior to the testing appointment being rescheduled.

Learning Strategies Fee

This fee is applicable to all students who receive additional services from a Learning Strategies teacher, assisting each child to be successful in AIS-R’s program. Parents will be notified if these services will be required as a condition for their child’s admission. The Learning Strategies fee is 7,726.50 SAR (6,750 SAR without VAT) and is required on an annual basis. Students who enroll in the Learning Strategies program during the second semester will be billed at a prorated rate of 50% of this fee. This fee is only refundable if the student did not attend school during the semester.

English Language Learners (ELL) Fee

A minimum level of English language proficiency may be required for enrollment. Beginning in Grade 1, supplementary ELL instruction is provided for an additional fee to those students requiring assistance with English language acquisition. Testing and teacher recommendation determines student eligibility for ELL instruction. The ELL fee is 7,726.50 SAR (6,750 SAR without VAT) and is required on an annual basis. Students who enroll in the ELL program during the second semester will be billed at a prorated rate of 50% of this fee. This fee is only refundable if the student did not attend school during the semester.

Bring Your Own Device Cost

AIS-R has a 1:World program and this requires that all students from Grades 3 to 12 bring their own device to school with them every day. Students in Grades 3 to 7 are required to bring an iPad and students in Grades 8 to 12 are required to bring their own laptop.

Arabic Language Program of Studies (ALPS) Fee

ALPS is an optional after-school Arabic Language program (speaking, reading, and writing) offered to students in Grades 1 to 12 (KG2 ALPS classes may be offered if a minimum of 8 students enroll). The ALPS fee is 6,900 SAR (6,000 SAR without VAT) per year. This fee is non-refundable after the student attends one session.

Diploma Programme Candidate Fees

Diploma Programme Candidates or Diploma Programme Course Candidates are subject to certain course fees. These fees will be charged to each student specific to their course selection. The fees are charged by AIS‐R and it is the student’s responsibility to settle all fees prior to the end of November in order to meet the payment deadlines of the IB. Failure to pay the fees by this date will result in an additional late fee. Fees are subject to change at any time by the IB. Please note that IB fees are not refundable.

Miscellaneous Fees

AIS-R has numerous enriching programs and services and many of these have additional costs associated with them for those who participate. Examples include, but are not limited to, Week Without Walls trips, sports trips, Wellness (PE) uniforms, IB exams, dining hall services, remote testing proctoring, yearbook, etc.
